Zanthar, also known as The Being Whose Name Must Never Be Said, is an interdimensional criminal from an unknown dimension who appears during the events of Weirdmageddon.

Eons before the events of the series, Zanthar indulged in criminal activities before being called to join Bill Cipher, along with 8 Ball, Amorphous Shape, Hectorgon, Keyhole, Kryptos, Paci-Fire, Pyronica, Creature with 88 different faces, and Teeth.[3]

Season 2

In "Weirdmageddon Part 1," during the cold open, Bill introduces Zanthar with the rest of his friends to the residents of Gravity Falls. Afterwards, on Main Street, Zanthar and the other demons watch Bill turn Ford into a golden statue and taunt Dipper before burning the journals. Later in the episode, Zanthar is seen playing "Spin the Person" and enjoying the "V.I.P." party Bill is having at the Fearamid until Time Baby and the Time Police crash the party. To the beings' delight, Bill vaporizes Time Baby and his squadron. The party then continues as Zanthar and the other demons rejoice over Time Baby's presumed death.

In "Weirdmageddon 2: Escape From Reality," Zanthar is seen partying, along the rest of the Henchmaniacs, later he listens to Bill's plan, and Zanthar and the rest of Bill's minions attempt to leave Gravity Falls and spread their chaos across the world, but are stopped by an invisible barrier. He later appears, with no visible injures, probably crashing againist the barrier wasn't that painful for him, but still he and the rest of the Henchmaniacs subjected to Bill's rage over their inability to leave, and attacks them with lightning bolts. Zanthar runs scared, along the rest of the Henchmaniacs.

In "Weirdmageddon 3: Take Back The Falls", Zanthar, first appears during an imagination sequence in which Bill tries to convince Ford to give him, the rift, in which, he appears destroying a planet. Later, Zanthar in flesh and bone, witnesses Bill torturing Ford and cheers at him, but they're interrupted by the Shacktron, who destroys the same wall Time Baby destroyed earlier, Zanthar is taken back after seeing that people survived the attack and they plan to fight back Bill, so he forces him and the rest to participate in the fight against the Shacktron, when the fight begings, he first charges at them, along his comrades, later, after his comrades are defeated, he rams towards the gigantic robot, attempting to destroy it, but the Shacktron manages to find a ground and stop Zanthar briefly, then Dipper, orders to augment the strenght, the robot grab Zanthar for his arms and Dipper steers, tossing Zanthar into the mountains, leaving behind only its party hat, causing an atomic explosion, when he lands. He's not seen in the episode afterwards. Later, after Stan tricks Bill into entering his mind and kills him, he was presumably sucked back into the Nightmare Realm along with its fellow comrades following Bill's defeat.

Xanthar appearance

Zanthar's body is shaped similar to a loaf of bread with four gorilla-like legs. It has dark grey-purple skin with some darker spots and no head. In its place is a light grey-purple patch with some dark grey-purple spots, resembling a loaf of sliced bread. It has small trees and patches of grass or moss growing out of its back, shoulders and other areas, and it wears a party hat.

Season 2

  • In concepts, Zanthar was going to look similar to an island, having things such as a castle and a river on it's back.[4] Its features are vaguely reminescent of the Island Head Beast, a gigantic, monstrous, disembodied head covered with trees.
  • Zanthar, along 8 Ball aren't seen after the Shacktron battle. Presumably, because Dipper sent him flying across the town.
    • Therefore, he's not seen during the scene, where the Henchmaniacs and the Nightmare Realm's monsters are sucked by the rift.
  • Zanthar, along 8 Ball, are the only Henchmaniacs, without an aura.
  • Zanthar is the largest of all of Bill's minions.
    • Despite this, Zanthar's size has changed considerably, during the entirety of Weirdmageddon: when he's presented, his size his larger than anybody else, but in some scenes later, his size is shrunk and his size, is about Pyronica and 8 Ball's size, possibly, this is because, he's very large to animate.
