"We'll Meet Again" is a love song made famous by the late British singer Vera Lynn (1917-2020) with music and lyrics by Ross Parker and Hughie Charles. It was one of the most famous songs during the World War II era, and it resonated with the soldiers of the Second World War to fight for their families and sweethearts. The song has a long history of being performed in film and television, most significantly in Dr. Strangelove.
Bill Cipher performs a segment of the song in "Weirdmageddon 3: Take Back The Falls."
History[]
In "Weirdmageddon 3: Take Back The Falls," Bill unfreezes Ford Pines after having turned him to gold and brought him to the Fearamid in the previous episode. Upon unfreezing him, Bill rises out of the floor playing a piano and singing a brief section of the song.
Lyrics[]
(Bill)
We'll meet again,
Don't know where, don't know when,
But I know we'll meet again, some sunny day.
Rest of the song (not sung in the series)
(Soos)
Keep smiling through
Just like you dudes always do
Till the blue skies drive the dark clouds far away. [chuckle]
(Stan)
So will you please say hello
To the folks that I know.
Tell them that I won't be long.
They'll be happy to know
That as you saw me go,
I was screaming this song. [cough]
(McGucket)
We'll meet again,
Don't know where, don't know when,
But I know we'll meet again, some sunny day. [psychotic laughter]
(Bill. not singing)
Hey, kids! It's me, your old pal and overlord! Bill Cipher! I'm sure you all miss me, but if you ever feel bad, just remember that I watch you while you sleep! At the end of the day your brain is just a meat computer in a bone cockpit piloting a skin robot! You think the world makes sense? Nothing makes sense! So you might as well make nonsense! Think about it!
(The whole crew singing)
We'll meet again. Don't know where. Don't know when! But I now we'll meet again some sunny day! [they all laugh]
(Bill. not singing)
I hate you all.
(Spanish version below)
"Yo te vére,"
"Donde y mas, no lo sé,"
"Solo se que pronto yo, te encontrarte."

Trivia[]
- Stan Pines sings this at the last message of the Cipher Hunt.
- In the Cantonese Chinese, German, and Thai versions of "Weirdmageddon 3: Take Back The Falls," The song was not dubbed and was left in English. The reasons for not dubbing it are unknown, but it is suspected that it was not dubbed in the German version due to problems with the song not sounding correct.
- During MomoCon 2017 via a guest video chat appearance, Alex Hirsch revealed some new and never before told information regarding how "We'll Meet Again" made it into Gravity Falls:
- His reasoning to use "We'll Meet Again" had been due to having recently seen Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. At the end of the film, as doomsday begins and nuclear bombs fall, Vera Lynn's version of "We'll Meet Again" plays. To Alex, the song felt like it fit the kind of music that to him Bill Cipher would listen to and so, it had to be the song he sang.[3]
- He also revealed that Disney originally wanted to cut the song out of the episode due to how much it was costing to get the rights to use it. He would keep sending them emails with just the word "Please" to get them to reconsider until they finally were worn down and wrote back to the tune of, "alright we’ll spend thousands of dollars."[4]
