Hello Everyone, The Puppeteer King here,

Well we have reached the end, the series has ended and the twins have returned home, Stan and Ford have made ammends and the twins will forever remember the adventures they've had.

If you read my discussion topic called final thoughts, you've seen how I've said that I am no longer going to contribute to wikia or other things Gravity Falls related but I've realised now that there is alot I want to get off my chest because I'm still absorbing the ending of the series (then again I watched it on tuesday morning, nobody gets over grieving that fast)

I will miss the show (until I find another show) because it helped me learn some aesops that'll be explained later in the blog. Like many of you I am going through the stages of grief but the stage I'm on is depression because I've accepted that it's ended but there is so much more that could've been done with this series but all good things must come to an end.

this is all just going to be my final thoughts about the series because the ending and it's credits song still play in my memories and the more I watched the ending and its credits, the less gut wrenchingly sad it was for me but it still haunts my mind. Seeing tweets or messages like goodbye Gravity Falls or how they will miss show also makes me sad, sentimental and empathetic towards them  because I am just as sad as they are and I believe that by writing this blog post, I can get these thoughts off my chest or so I can move on from this. This blog is only for me and for me alone.

Dipcifica

To get this started, I am going to start with my ship. Dipcifica (Dipper x Pacifica), I have tried and failed multiple times to convince others that I didn't ship these two after Northwest Mansion Mystery and that I ship them but not as much as the actual shippers. Truthfully I really wanted these two to be together just because of how they connected in their episode and I wanted a big romance moment between the two in Weirdmageddon similar to the one between Yoko Litner and Kamina in Gurren Lagann. The other reason why I thought that this ship would of come true was because unlike Candip or Wendip, Dipcifica wasn't shot down or discontinued and Alex Hirsch was still ambiguous about their bond after Mansion Mystery, symbolism wise it also made sense since her name was based on the pacific northwest which is a part of America were Hirsch spent his childhood holidays and if Dipper and Pacifica went into a relationship then it would symbolise the enjoyment Hirsch had over his time spent on holiday in the Pacific Northwest and how he loved the experiences since Dipper represented Hirsh as a child and Pacifica was based on the Pacific Northwest.

On the bright side at least she and Dipper are friends because they did initially hate each other and it would of been "too disney" if they became a couple that fast and they are both too young for romance maybe if they were 14 or 15 or 16 then we could of gotten the ship if the series was longer but they were too young for this sort of thing. Dipper was still getting over Wendy and while Stan did teach him how to successfully flirt with girls, Dipper was not able to manage this skill with love, he only learned how to flirt or how to be a  kids version of a casonova.

On the Tv Tropes page, people still believe that the two will still go into a relationship because of the way Pacifica wrote her signature (with a heart) but they ignored the fact that this is a way that some girls write their signature and that Candy also wrote a heart next to her signature as well. If Alex Hirsch were to say in a tweet that that Dipper and Pacifica did eventually go into a relationship in the future then I'd be happy but thats kind of a long shot given Hirsch's experiences with Gravity Falls shippings but it was a ship that I really wanted to come true but at least they no longer hate each other and that they are friends.

The one downside to Weirdmageddon was how the character development for Pacifica was ignored which resulted in her being needlessly cruel to Mabel during the event then being friends with the twins at the party and in the ending with signature but the easiest explanation is that Pacifica was angry about losing both of her parents to Bill and Mabel was just a lightning rod with her anger and cynicalism and while she was slightly less hostile to Dipper, she was still aggressive to the same resistance he was a part of when she threatened to sue them if she is killed but she is still friends with Dipper and Mabel by the end of the episode but I think the shippers will see this as a hint towards a love interest but I've seen the balance on the note. Dipcifica was the first pairing that I've ever supported or wanted from a series but while I wanted it to happen as well as many others wanting the same thing, some things are best left for the imagination as well as stories that the shippers made for them but like I said this is best made by the community, for the community even though they could of done alot with it but like I said, it would of been "too disney" if they got together and it would of been sickeningly soppy since we knew that Dipper was based on Hirsch as a child and that Pacifica was named after the Pacific Northwest.

The Mystery

The series only had two mysteries, who was the author? and who was hunting the author?. We all got the ending to those mysteries with Ford and Bill but there are still some mysteries still around such as Dippers name and Blendin's fate in Weirdmageddon. People assume that Dippers name is Abel because of the credits showing a picture of tree with Mabel + Abel engraved into it. I think they are both Mabels names engraved in the tree to signify that Mabel chooses to be single rather than have an epic summer romance because she realised that she isn't ready to have one because she mistreated friends and family to achieve them. In regards to Blendins fate then if you remember in Gideon Rises, Blendin was seen in the background when Stan drove to the robot crash site, I can guess that Blendin escaped to a safer time because he realised that he can't do anything useful against bill and decided to go to a safer time zone for safety and to live the rest of his life.

The other mysteries like Lebam were just made out of over excitement from the fans because Gravity Falls has been about hidden secrets so we made excessive theories out of misunderstanding character interactions such as my stupid love god relation theory which was made because I made a heavy misunderstanding about Love God and Mabel. Since they were fan theories we probably made our own answers for it rather than expect Hirsch to give the answers to us. They could of given us soo much more mysteries but I realised that if they put too much mysteries then we'd get confused about whats happening and what to follow.

Aftermath/The adventure continues

When I saw the ending and its credits, it felt like the final nail on the coffin. Seeing the photos of Dipper, Mabel, Ford, Stanley, Candy, Grenda, Soos and Waddles having happy memories in tthe scrapbook felt heartwarming and gut wrenching at the same time escially when the credits and the note saying "see you next summer!" was with the signatures of all the character names written on it was shown. It really hit home for me because while I only watched the series from the beginning before the official first episode of the second season and I had already got attached to the characters because I saw the characters as me. I never really got into translating the messages or trying to find the author because I enjoyed the jokes and the heart that was put into it but it still had a huge impact on me when they revealed the identity of the author. I even used to have days where I would watch all of the episodes from the first episode to latest released episode. Like I said about dipcifica, there could of been soo much more they could of done with their adventures but the whole point of series was to highlight the finity of childhood. I am sure we all wanted to be younger at one point and relive happy memories but the ending says that we now must make our own adventures.

I've said numerous times that I wanted to see the main characters and prominant characters as adults because I think that its the best I can get if I see them grown up but since Dipper and Mabel are based on Alex Hirsch and Ariel Hirsch then I assume that they both grow up looking like them. If you really want to theorise what Dipper and Pacifica look like in the future then watch the first episode of a show called The Libarians which is about a group of people who encounter creatures like gorgons, minotaurs and magic on a regular basis and when watching this the two characters reminded me of a grown up Dipper and Pacifica and one character slightly reminded me of Mabel because of her jumper and overall personality in the episode but we must give up Gravity Falls to find new shows or to have our own adventures.

As much as we'd all like to have Dipper and Mabel back in our lives, we have to remember that the whole point of Gravity Falls was to highlight the finity of childhood. We all have our own lives to live and we shouldn't waste it by watching someone else grow up espicially if the person they represented already has grown up.. I am sure Dipper and Mabel got their own boyfriends or girlfriends in the future and overall live happy lives but we as the viewers must wake up and return to our own lives.

We as the fans can cop out on the ending by creating fan fiction that appeals to our version of the ending such as Dipper and Mabel staying in the town, Dipper and Mabel each getting a boyfriend or girlfriend in accordance to the writers OTP but then what, are we going to keep making fan fics until the show is milked dry or when we run out ideas then we will reach Simpsons Syndrome (when a show lasts too long until it loses its charm)

Some people are probably wishing that they can physically join Gravity Falls and abandon reality, first things first, while Gravity Falls has alot of imaginative creatures but would you really believe that you can survive Bill and his hench maniacs, shapeshifters and all sorts of murderous and dangerous creatures. The second thing is that the ending monolog of Gravity Falls meant that there will always be a real life version of Gravity Falls (since its based on Hirsh's holidays in the pacific northwest) and that we can always find our own.

While some of us can be repulsed by the idea of fan fictions, some of us probably found a fic that we wished was real or canon to the show but Hirsch is in charge of the show, not us. If we were in charge of the show then the ending wouldn't be as memorable as it is. It may appeal to us but that doesn't mean it appeals to everyone. I have wanted so much more from this show or the show could of been so much more but the series only had the one goal which was to make an intriguing mystery in a town that embraces weirdness and madness. Our shippings, fan fics or desires for the future can only be fulfilled by our own imagination and creativity. Dipper most likely followed in Hirsch's footsteps and Mabel most likely followed in Ariels footsteps. (I've taken this way too seriously but this whole blog was for me and for me alone).

Should it continue?

I've reacted aggressively to mentions of a possible third season or a series reboot. As much as I'd want this to happen but I have come to believe that there shouldn't be a third season because some Gravity Falls episodes have taught me aesops that have changed my perspective on things such as

  • love being not as bad as I think it is
  • to change someone for the better is to give compassion and empathy
  • not all women are helpless or damsels in distress
  • video games can never substitute life
  • Always do whats right even if you stand alone

If there is a third season then they would run out of ideas and if there is a sequel spin off then it can turn bad like how the producers of Friends made a terrible spin off about one of their characters after the show.

We wouldn't want Gravity Falls to end up like The Simpsons where we just want the show to end even though there was classic moments in the first few series. Gravity Falls doesn't deserve that fate. It would be better if Hirsch did another Q&A so that he can at least tell the fates of the characters next summer like Mabel getting a boyfriend, Ford and Stanley making millions in treasure hunting, Soos running the mystery shack, Pacifica's actions next summer or if she persues a relationship with Dipper.

I guess thats the beauty of the the ending of Gravity Falls, it essentially lets you make your own adventure by saying that you shouldn't waste your curiosity and how you should find your own Gravity Falls adventure, both literally by following your own adventurious curiosity and metaphorically by creating your own Gravity Falls fan fic ending for the twins next summer adventure.

If Gravity Falls did have a movie, it would probably be a tv movie and it could tie some loose ends and there was a sequel hook with Bill chanting that he will return one day but Hirsch has said that he ended Dipper and Mabels story and that there will be no more seasons so this might just be a little wink to the audience because Hirsch is essentially the cheshire cat in all of this. He wouldn't go back on his words that fast and while he did say that the series can be rebooted, I doubt that it'll have the same charm as the original seasons so as much as I'd like to know what happens next. I'd be happier if he did a Q&A or a series of tweets telling what happened next for the characters.

The relationships between the character were strengthened and made stronger to a point that is best for everyone and if a movie, new season or reboot was remade then all of it would be made pointless and we'd all know who'd come back and like I said, the aftermath is best revealed in a Q&A or series of tweets from Hirsch.

Final Thoughts

As you can see I am rambling again but what I am trying to say is that while Gravity Falls gave us an ending that we didn't want, it gave us the ending we needed (I know its cringey but its the only way to say it). Gravity Falls is better this way otherwise we would grow to hate it or lose our nostalgia for it if it kept getting sequel after sequel or season after season.

To close this off, Gravity Falls has been more than amazing for me but like how a person picks flowers, the best ones are always the first to go. If you are like me and you still have some thoughts about the series then do what I did and make a blog post about all your thoughts and feelings about the series end, If you are bottling up sadness about the series end then I suggest you just let it all out or get everything off your chest in a blog because if Inside Out has taught me anything is that its very healthy to be sad or to cry about something. At least the twins are returning for an off screen adventure in the future of Gravity Falls.

Like I said at the start, I am going to stay for a little while on the wikia but like everyone else, I will leave for other wikias eventually.
