I watched the episode Into the Bunker and I had some things I hoped to discuss on the wiki. I gave fair warning to those who haven't seen the episode above.
At the end of the episode, Dipper confessed that he has feelings for Wendy. She let him down gently saying that she was too old for him. She also said that their friendship ment a great deal to her and she wanted to remain friends.
So, Dipper and Wendy's relationship is secure and they know where they stand with one another. Dipper is twelve. Wendy is fifteen. That's only a three year age gap. During the teen years it seems big but once you hit your twenties it isn't a very big deal.
Despite them having a resolution, that doesn't mean that Dipper's feelings would just disappear over night. So, I hope that these facts are used in the future of the show rather than just ignoring the fact that Dipper had a crush on Wendy.
I love this show and I really love the characters, especially Stan and Dipper.
There are two possiblities. The writers ignore Dipper's crush and the two just carry on being friends, or it could be used as part of future plot development. Perhaps Wendy simply doesn't feel like there could be anything more than friendship between them. I just hope that these events aren't ignored in the future.
Well, I gathered that using age was a gentle way for her to put it, but I still figure it would make for some intesting plot involving Dipper if the fact that he still has his feelings for her is used by the writers. What do you think?
Ultimately, what ever happens, I hope that Gravity Falls runs for a good long time and gets a chance to have an ending rather than a cancelation. I love the characters and relate to Dipper quite a bit which is the source of my wanting to talk about him. I just hope that the writers don't just abandon him having feelings for Wendy. They could pretend nothing happened and the two just remain friends, or they could use it for interesting plot with Dipper which I sincerly hope they do.

The chances of GF being cancelled are very slim. If anything, Alex would say that S. 2 would be the final because he wants to limit himself, rather than DC coming out and saying that the show will be cancelled, with the next episode being the final. Plus, DC knows that the fanbase for GF is very very big.
And even if that happened, we have a lot of episodes left.
I really hope the Alex lets the show run for more than just two season though. And even if Gravity Falls ends that doesn't mean there can't be other shows or perhaps movies following the characters and locations from the show.
What do you have to say about the other topic of discussion on the thread?
Thel Vadam4321 wrote: What do is the likelyhood that Gravity Falls will follow Dipper and Mable as they grow up?
Probably not. It will probably be like The Simpsons, where the characters never really age and stuff.
And besides, back in 2012, Alex planned a three-season story arc. Three seasons and a potential movie is a MUST. And also, he said that the show ends at the end of the summer when they come back home. So each season would be like June, July and August.
Upon reflection, I think that these are among the most likely possiblities for the future of Dipper and Wendy.
A: They both move on and remain best friends until the series end. A decent enough route, but not my first choice.
B: Dipper tries and fails in other relationships, and eventually, at some point in the future, perhaps when Dipper, Mable, and Wendy are all in their early twenties, a glimer of possibility of a relationship greater than friendship might exist. And perhaps Wendy might be able to see Dipper as something other than a kid after ten years. They might start going down a path that will lead somewhere.
I abviously prefer B. I imagine a scenario in which Mable, who has been by Dipper's side the entire time, tells Wendy how he never really stopped loving her despite trying to make other relationships work. She might then ask Wendy what other guys she had met that had always been there, always done the little things, and always did difficult, boring, or painful tasks just to spend some time with her.
Alternatively everyone moves on including Dipper and they remain really good friends for the rest of their lives. But for some reason I just can't let go that little glimmer of possibility. Maybe it's because I relate to Dipper so much and feel a great connection with the character. I want him to succeed.
Maybe I am lamenting too much on this. But Dipper is my favorite character and I love the entire main cast to death. So I guess I just like to talk about what I'd like to see in the show.
Even if Gravity Falls itself ends after a one summer long arc which might only last 3-4 seasons, there is still plenty of room after that for a movie or maybe another series following the characters.
Either way, I respect Hirsch as the creator of Gravity Falls and I'm sure I'll love what ever he creates.
Honestly, this is the best Disney Cartoon since Gargoyles.
Well, now that I've gotten the point of this thread out of my system I suppose it's time to talk secrets, theories, and other points of interest.
I look forward to future conversation and debate with you my fellow Gravity Falls fans and members of the wiki community.
We know Alex Hirsch has a well defined vision for Gravity Falls. It has a beginning middle and an end. Well, I say that Gravity Falls can fufill his vision and still continue. Either with a follow up series or a continuation of the show and a movie.
I have become too attached to these characters to say good bye after only three seasons. I want to see the cast grow and develop. I want them to continue to discover the world's wonders, secrets, and mysteries.
I respect Alex Hirsch as the creator of Gravity Falls, but I still believe that his vision can be achieved and still let Gravity Falls continue in some form in some capacity.
There is plenty of potential for stories beyond their first summer and I desperately want confirmation that there will be more. As the Master Chief would say, "I think we're just getting started."
This is going to be a long deliberation, but I implore you fellow community member to read the whole thing through even when it sounds redundant.
After some long reflection upon Dipper and Wendy and the current episodes I've come to some more points regarding what I'd like to see happen in the future of Gravity Falls. Some of what I am going to say I've said before, but I'll say again to put it in context.
When this whole thing began we kind of knew that nothing would really be able to come of Dipper's crush on Wendy. We figured that he'd have to move on at some point.
As it is, their friendship is safe and strong as ever. It makes sense that Dipper likes Wendy. She's pretty dang awesome. She cares deeply about Dipper, but she can't see him as anything other than a kid. Her relationship to both Dipper and Mabel is that of an older sister. This is how it must be for at least several years after they first meet and especially during their first summer.
As I have said, I would love for the stories of Gravity Falls to continue long after that first summer. In my vision, Wendy and Dipper remain steadfast friends from youth into young adulthood.
Dipper will have tried to move on but will have failed in every attempted relationship. Mabel is always there to help Dipper through his troubles. While one might say that Dipper had nothing more than a simple crush on Wendy I'd like to think different.
While a young boy may not know much of love Dipper did say that he loved Wendy when he thought she was injured or dying. It certainly wouldn't be at odds with Disney's style for Dipper to truly love Wendy and for it to be more than just a simple and passing crush.
So, I believe that Dipper truly loved and still loves Wendy even after their resolution.
Since Wendy has apparently already experienced a number of failed relationships, it is not outside the realm of possibility that all her subsequent relationships also eventually failed.
I want the character's stories to cover many points in their journey of growth, but let's say that at some point, perhaps ten years after they first met, when Wendy is twenty-five and the twins are twenty-three a glimmer of possibility is introduced. At this point in time, the age barrier no longer exists. Wendy can and would see Dipper and Mabel as equal young adults rather than as kids.
At this time in their lives, a romantic relationship between Dipper and Wendy isn't out of the question.
In my vision as I have said, Dipper failed in all his attempts to move on because he fell in love with Wendy and never stopped. Perhaps she comes to this realization on her own or with Mabel's help.
I desperately want just for a glimmer to exist so that if the show ends I can be content knowing that the possibility for a more than friends relationship exists between the two.
In their youth it could never happen, and that's okay. That summer was only just the beginning of a lot of things.
I know this is a lengthy deliberation and if you've gotten this far you have my undying gratitude.
You must understand that my love for Gravity Falls stems from my connection to Dipper Pines and to what Gravity Falls represents. Thus I have grown a bond to these characters and Dipper most of all. He is a reflection of myself. I relate to him in so many ways that I could be another version of him from an alternate universe.
I hope you understand fellow community member, and I thank you for reading my deliberation on this subject. If you have any comments please share them.
If you want to think of it as a pause, by all means go ahead. They can't have any relationship besides that of being really good friends for at least several years after that event. I simply call it their resolution for conveinences sake.
As I have said, all I want is for that glimmer to exist. It's just the finality that kills me.
But if what I have described happens to some extent in a Gravity Falls expanded story I would prefer it to be a major subplot but not disturb a main plot too much.
Among other things, Gravity Falls seems to be a story about Dipper's growth and development. I would like to see that reflected in any future stories about him.
