Ok ok you can stop laughing no and yeah if you don't think it is stupid but I have 2 reasons he may be the Author
1.At the end of the episode he told dipper this" And you my young lad you are on the trail to unlocking the great secrets of this land".
2. He also gives Dipper a-12 dollar bill and in dream scalpers on bills summoning ritual on the bottom it says "he's in my wallet"
Actually, and you could be right. Trembley is as crazy as McGucket. And why did McGucket go crazy? The Socity Of The Blindeye. Trembley found Gravity Falls and witnessed terrible thing happening, and the Society stopped him from investigating any father.
AbercrombieFizzwidget wrote: Trembley isn't intelligent enough to write a coherent journal, let alone a whole series of them. Plus, it is stated that he suffered a concussion while discovering Gravity Falls.
And you wouldn't have thought that McGucket was a very intelligant person, but as we saw in Society of the Blindeye...

Considering the Society formed probably some time in the early 80s, I don't think it would have much to do with Quentin Trembley
Fair point theory 2 a relative of the north west family face the facts
1.Pacifica and her father Preston have had their minds wiped
2.since it is most likely the author made the portal under the shack who else would have the money to build something like the portal
3. Why would the author do research about Nathaniel Northwest.
But many theories about the author have holes.
1. Plenty of other people probably have had their minds wiped at some point, but those two specifically having their minds wiped likely does have some signifigance. All the same, that isn't much to go on.
2. America is a fairly wealthy country. There are a lot of rich people, from a lot of different places. I think it's a bit of a stretch to assume that anyone with a lot of money in Gravity Falls has to be from the same family.
3, It's entirely possible that the author first noticed that there was some sort of government cover-up. From there, he could have discovered that it was related to the founder of Gravity Falls, and continued from there.
Personally, I'm leaning toward the idea that the author is a character that hasn't been introduced yet. Most of the evidence up until now pointed toward McGucket, and since that's been disproven, nobody else really matches up with the evidence.
It would be kinda cheap and tacky to have an un-introduced character to be the author. My bet it's either a supporting character we haven't suspected yet (like Toby) or Stan having a twin and him/her being the author.
