  • Rewatching Sock Opera and Society of the Blind Eye, and looking at Bill's page in Book 3, I am starting to develop a theory about Bill and Blind Ivan and how linked the two are.

In 2x04, Bill said it'd been a while since he'd inhabited a body, and made a note about it having two eyes.  What if the last body he inhabited was Ivan?  Also, on Bill's page in Book 3, there's a drawing of Bill popping out of the back of a person's head...a person with tattoos marking off sections on the head, some matching exactly to Ivan's!!!!

    Whatcha think?

    • Ooh nice. Yes, that's a good a theory. So far he's the only one who seems to actually be blind in one eye.

    • I'm curious about who Ivan was before the society...Also, the fact that Dipper erasing his memories of the society left a blank slate.  He didn't even know his name!  That means that his entire identity (in 2014) was as the leader of the society of the blind eye.

    • Certainly better than mine and makes a lot of sense. Was Blind Ivan THE author? Or maybe he worked with the Author alongside McGucket. I think that because he didn't remember ANYTHING, he was born into the Society, and named for it. That would be why he doesn't remember his name or who he was.

    • I had a (brief) moment where I thought about if Blind Ivan was the author, since McGucket (in his memories) called him a visitor.

I don't think Ivan wrote the book, nor do I think he was born into the society.  From what we've seen so far, there doesn't seem to be any importance with family in the order.

And another point (though not on Ivan) I thought about is about the machine under the mystery shack.  In looking at McGucket's memories, it seemed as though weird stuff didn't start happening until the author came and worked on this machine (he was disturbed by the gnomes, but only after a few months after his initial memory wipe).

Captainkirk proposed that Bill was released in '82, which made me think about if the machine allowed Bill to have the ability to enter our reality (even if just in the dreamscapes)

    • I don't think the Machine is responsible for all the weird stuff in the town. This is because the Author was researching the weird stuff before he started working on the Machine. It is possible that is could have released him, but I have a different theory.

I thing the Machine was built to trap Bill. It seems Bill is always after the Pines, and that we wants those books. Maybe because the a Pine built the machine to trap Bill in another dimension so he can't go though with his plans. What his plans are, I don't know. Also, I think it was a Pine who wrote the books. My theory is Stanly.

But as for Bill and blind Ivan, I have to agree with you there.

      I like that theory.

      I like that theory.

Maybe...I mean, the portal's main internal structure is an upside-down triangle.  Maybe it's supposed to represent some sort of inverse energy of Bill or something.

I would like to point out that in the promo for next week, when the end times are coming closer, that they showed gravity not working....I dunno
