TheMysteryShack.com, or simply The Mystery Shack, is an online store that sells a combination of high-quality fan-made and officially licensed merchandise for various cartoons, most notably Gravity Falls.[1] They also frequently attend comic conventions across the United States as a vendor to sell their products. The site is run by a vendor named Michael, and is affiliated with The Mystery of Gravity Falls.[citation needed]

About[]

TheMysteryShack.com was launched in 2016 by @TheMysteryofGF. The store specializes in selling batches of official, licensed and fan made merchandise. The store works in conjunction with Disney on occasions, but for the most part the merchandise they've made available has been of their own initiative, sometimes with help from an outside contractor. They also work with Bioworld, who provides the Gravity Falls license to Hot Topic, in creating certain items.[2] In addition to Gravity Falls merch, The Mystery Shack also sells merch for other popular cartoons such as Steven Universe, Over the Garden Wall, Rick and Morty, Star vs. The Forces of Evil, The Owl House, and Amphibia, among many others. When asked in an interview if he was involved in the production of products sold by The Mystery Shack, Alex Hirsch responded, "That guy is like my guardian angel. He's some kind of brilliant, crazed super-fan who understands the show better than Disney ever did. Honestly, I don't know how he contacted Disney and got the sanctioned merchā€”he's some kind of wizard. I hope he runs the company one day."[3]

Official Description[]

Here at TheMysteryShack, we love cartoons. We love quality merchandise for those cartoons even more! We strive to work with companies and talented artists alike to create unique and mass marketable products for shows that seem to not get their fair shake in regards to purchasable products. We've worked hard to obtain exclusive designs and products and even coming up with some of our own that look like they were ripped straight out of the television!

This is pretty much a one man operation. Although sometimes we rely on the kindness of family members when things get busy, we individually pack and ship every order sent to your door! Most every order we send includes some type of freebie as well! Whether it be a postcard to remember a trip to Gravity Falls or Pearl's validation in the form of a sticker, or even a Mystery Shack coupon that does nothing but charge you an imaginary dollar, you'll get something for nothing!

I hope you enjoy your visit to TheMysteryShack and find some enthralling items to fill that lack of merchandise void in your heart. Without the fans, we wouldn't exist so we appreciate your patience, support, and love in all that we do!

Sincerely,

~Michael [Owner, Operator, Occasional Obfuscator]

The winning Gravity Falls design

In April 2017, The Mystery Shack held a Licensed T-Shirt Design Contest, in which fans could submit their own designs for a Gravity Falls or Steven Universe T-Shirt for a chance to have it turned into an officially licensed T-Shirt by Disney or Cartoon Network respectively. In addition to having their design turned into an officially licensed T-Shirt, the winners also received a monetary reward of $100 USD, one shirt with their design in an adult unisex size of their choosing, a commission for each shirt with their design sold for the first 6 months of availability, and small gift packages containing merchandise from either Gravity Falls or Steven Universe.[4]
