TXT Me 2morrow is an unused song written by Matt Chapman, composed by Brad Breeck and sung by Matt and Jeff Rowe. It was an early attempt at creating a song to be used in the final scene of "Scary-oke." Ultimately, it was rejected in favor of Taking Over Midnight. The demo of the song was officially released by Matt in 2024 for a podcast.[1]
Background[]
Shared by Matt Champman, the song was an early attempt at making the one that would be sung by Dipper, Mabel and Stan to defeat the zombies during Scary-oke. Brad Breeck had made the track and him and Jeff Rowe were tasked with coming up with lyrics for it. TXT Me 2morrow was their first attempt at making it, however it didn't hit right enough for the scene and was scrapped. They eventually would write by Taking Over Midnight which did hit the criteria and became the lyrics that went with the audio to form the final song heard in the episode.
"I had a keyboard and a mic set up in my office at Disney. And one of my favorite occurrences when I worked on GF was Alex would pop in and say, "need a little song for an episode." Jeff Rowe was usually my partner at Crime and we'd crank out something ridiculous in an hour or two. Eventually, Brad Breeck would be given our rough demos and make them sound legit. But it always amazes me how much DNA from our janky demos would for remain in the final version. For scary-oke, Alex had Brad Breeck make a living on a prayer esque backing track and tasked Jeff Rowe and I with trying some lyrics. Our first attempt was a Call me Maybe ripoff called TXT Me 2omorrow, but ultimately it didn't get big slash harmonious enough in the chorus to bust zombie heads." |
Lyrics[]
Dipper:
"Ugh, Mabel, does it have to be this song?"
Mabel:
"THIS IS THE ONLY SONG!"
"Now, sing"
Dipper:
"ughhhh"
:), is how you smiled at me
I texted back some Z's and now you're so in love
Mabel:
You sent me pictures of cats,
they all wore funny hats
I was way into that
I texted back "What's up"
Dipper:
"Grunkle Stan, it's your turn!"
Stan:
"Kids, I don't know if our lives are worth this!"
Mabel:
"DO IT, GRUNKLE STAN, DO IT! THIS IS THE BEST PART!"
Stan:
Luv's a three letter word
"Ah, geez"
All three Pines:
IT'S GOT "U" IN THE MIDDLE!!
Life is crazy, but love is bizzaro
If you still like me, then TXT me 2morrow
Life is crazy, but love is bizzaro
If you still like me
Mabel:
"This is it, boys!"
All three Pines:
Life is crazy, but love is bizzaro
If you still like me, then TXT me 2morrow
Ohhhhhhhhhh YEAH!!
Life is crazy, but love is bizzaro
If you still like me, then TXT me 2morrow
If you still like me,
TXT me 2morrow
Stan:
"Eat it, zombies!!"
Mabel:
"Haha, you're all dead!"
