The Pterodactyl is a flying beast from a land trapped in time that kidnaps Mabel's pet pig Waddles. Pterosaurs are flying reptiles from the late Triassic era (220 million years ago) to the end of the Cretaceous era (65 million years ago).
History
In the opening theme, a picture of the pterodactyl can be seen in a photo.
In "Land Before Swine," the pterodactyl flies off with Waddles. The Pines family, Soos, and Old Man McGucket go after him. It can also be seen ripping off the roof of the cop car and flying by the moon.
As reported in article by Toby Determined, the pterodactyl snatched sheep in the past. Also, Toby Determined has reported that the pterodactyl had abducted several local miners. This is proven by the human bones and miner helmets found in the pterodactyl's nest.
Appearance
The pterodactyl has a large wingspan. It has two lizard-like eyes, a pointy skull, and a long beak with two sharp teeth. It also has a long tail and sharp talons. A baby pterodactyl, which hatches from an egg in a nest, looks like a small version of the adult.

Trivia
- It was animated by James Baxter, who also worked on the movie "Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron" and was a guest star in an episode of Adventure Time dedicated to him: "James Baxter the Horse."
- There is also a fake pterosaur in the Mystery Shack.
- The characters consider the Pterodactyl as a species of "dinosaur" despite the fact that pterosaurs are not dinosaurs at all (though closely related), they are flying reptiles.
- Despite the creature being called a "pterodactyl", "pterosaur" or "pteranodon" would be correct. "Pterodactyl" is a term the public uses to describe Pterosaurs.[2]
