Piedmont, California is a small city on the US West Coast and the hometown of Dipper and Mabel Pines and their parents.

History[]

Dipper & Mabel’s canon elementary school

Dipper & Mabel's elementary school based on the real one

Dipper and Mabel were born and raised in Piedmont by their parents. They attended Eggbert Elementary, Piedmont Middle School and will attend Piedmont High School.

In "Tourist Trapped," at the start of summer, Dipper and Mabel's parents send them up North to spend the summer with their great uncle Stan in the small town of Gravity Falls, Oregon.

Dipper later mentions it in "Dipper and Mabel vs. the Future," when he says that Mabel would be alone in California if he chose to stay in Gravity Falls with Great Uncle Ford.

In "Weirdmageddon 2: Escape From Reality," during the court case between Dipper and Mabel, Xyler and Craz use flashbacks from the twin's childhood in Piedmont as ways to prove real life is not that great and it's better to stay inside Mabeland. The first memory is from when the twins are in second grade on photo day. Mabel had done up a new hairstyle, and had intended for it to be the best photo day ever. However, the hairstyle was ruined when a girl stuck a piece of gum in her hair, making her distraught. Dipper is unable to help at first, so Mabel runs away in tears.

Xyler and Craz used this incident to justify how cruel reality was, and when Dipper argues it was just one bad day, they bring up another memory, targeted at him. This memory was of the twins in fourth grade, on Valentine's Day. Mabel had received lots of cards, while Dipper had none, causing his classmates to mock him and for him to leave in embarrassment. One classmate remarks to Mabel that he was surprised Dipper was actually Mabel's brother.

Eventually, Dipper counters these points by showing more context and details regarding the memories used as evidence. For the Photo Day incident, Dipper returns with a razor and shaves the center of his head, and while this made him look ridiculous, it convinced Mabel to follow suit, causing them both to have a good laugh out of it and have their photos taken. For the Valentine's Day incident, Mabel used all her cards to form a huge card for Dipper, cheering him up. This and other memories from the summer help Mabel be freed from the bubble and return to help her brother and friends.

In "Weirdmageddon 3: Take Back The Falls," the summer comes to an end and with that, the twins return to Piedmont with Waddles. During the end credits montage, Dipper, Mabel and Waddles, who are now asleep, arrive back home, indicated by a sign that reads, "WELCOME TO PIEDMONT."

Dipper and Mabel are now back in Piedmont and adjusting to life post Gravity Falls while attending school there.
