The documentary starts with Alex Hirsch opening up a storage locker in which he has stored all of the production material when the show ended.[2] Throughout it we have Alex showing us various items in it like scrapped episode ideas, artwork and fan mail - reassuring that even though he may not have responded to all of the fan mail, he has certainly read it.[3] It goes into detail about how he came up with the idea for Gravity Falls and the people he hired for the team to produce it such as Michael Rianda and Rob Renzetti, as well as the cast.[4] It also explains in greater detail about how the show's characters and its world were built. Later in it we are brought into how each episode was produced, and the various challenges that the crew had to work through from restrictions they had, to fans figuring things out faster than planned. Alex also talks about the challenges in ending Gravity Falls and the story behind how he came up with and was able to do Cipher Hunt in 2016 and the drama that surrounded Bill Cipher's statue afterwards.[6][7]
The crew also discuss how much their lives have changed because of Gravity Falls and how much an impact it has had on them and the others around them.[8][9]
