Nyarf guns are dart guns first seen in "Dreamscaperers." They were first used by Dipper, Mabel and Wendy while they were watching "Grandpa the Kid," then by Dipper to shoot a picture of Stan.
History
They are first seen and used when Wendy and the Pines family are watching Grandpa the Kid. Wendy duly shoots a dart at Dipper but misses, and Dipper reacts in the same fashion. Later, Stan asks Dipper to get rid of a bat in the kitchen, and Dipper is hurt in the process. After Mabel and Soos take care of his injuries, Stan yells at him to unclog the sink, and, out of anger, Dipper shoots a dart at his picture. Later, after Bill Cipher finds the door which has the safe combination in one of Stan's memories, Mabel uses the gun to shoot the door out of Bill's hand, and into the bottomless pit.
Appearance
Nyarf guns have the appearance of an average dart gun. It has "Nyarf" written on both sides. It is colored green and orange, and the trigger is blue. It has a hole in the front, where the darts are shot out of.
Trivia
- It is a parody of the Nerf dart guns made by Hasbro. They may also be a reference to the demon NYARlathotep from the stories of H.P.Lovecraft. The first story Lovecraft wrote about this demon, "Nyarlathotep", was simply a transcription of a dream he had the night before. It can take on many forms, has all knowledge, and is particularly known for making deals with mortals and then mocking them as their wishes bring on their destruction (see Lovecraft's story "The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath" and August Derleth's tale "The Dweller in Darkness)." It also has connexions to Ancient Egypt. Bill Cipher, introduced in this episode, is very similar to Nyarlathotep.
