As it turns out, it's possible to replicate pretty much anything.
I've seen prop replica Ghostbusters irl and stuff like the clock tower flier from Back to the Future. There are forums built around prop replicator communities like the RPF, for example.
Copywritten material is off limits, of course, but anyone can make a replica of say, journal 3, and sell it to their friend next door.
I always like it when people replicate video game props, like Halo armor and laser guns. Prop replicas are encouraged by companies and copyright is respected by the community. Except for in those rare instances, as in the case where that group of people somewhere in Asia built a small Iron Man armor factory and got it shut down. lol So like
So when I noticed all these props in Gravity Falls, while maing videos and stuff, I thought, they've got to be doing this on purpose. I think they intentionally make some scenes loop because they know people will make them into .gif images. So maybe they're overloading the show with these thousands of props is akin to the home fabrication movement.
You could 3D print yourself a Grunkle Stan if you purchase the file from the toy store, if they'd make that available. You should be able to print yourself things like, Waddles's ??? Birthday Probably picture, or a Scary-Oke poster too. Thing is, none of us have poster sized printers in our living rooms. I put a bunch of photo replicas on image sites for people while I was building the video list, in case anyone wants to download them for whatever. https://www.pinterest.com/thesqoou/
Not all of us can print and even fewer of us can print large files. The Etsy shop of mine you've noticed is a good way to get replicas to people, but local print shops only have up to certain size capabilities also. Redbubble and sites like it, print up to literally, blanket sizes and down to coffee mugs and also handles the shipping.
Sometimes when I edit a picture for friends and family, to get it to them, I just look up their nearest chain drugstore, and send the file there for printing / pick up.
This is an amazing time to live in. Things can almost fall out of the screen, in a sense. I printed out a Love Patrol Alpha and a Northwest Document for my desk and wall. That's what started this whole project. I'm learning a lot about photo and image editing, along with video and gif techniques while doing this. I've just completed the ghost Lumberjack painting from the next episode in record time !!!
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner (I have literally been moving non-stop on four/five hours of sleep each night....)....Am I the only one that can't post stuff on wikia from their phone? Cuz I have that problem :(
But I know what you mean, about the technology. I'm a 90s kid, so I still remember (and am fascinated by) the progression of technology. In 4th grade my parents got me a computer, which was one of those giant bulky ones you see in offices (maybe they're too lazy to switch?) I got a phone in middle school just so I could call home if I missed the bus (it was a free phone that came with my dad's purchase of a blackberry).
I am a scientist (well, I will be ;P), so I do research a lot, both for papers and for my own fun. The ease of access of such amazing and ground-breaking information literally the minute it's published is just...wow.
(Nerd rant over lol,) I have no skills with graphic design. I'm more into crafting with varoius media (clay, felt, foam, and pretty much anything my handy-dandy hot glue gun will work with). I think my deviantart is linked on my page on here. I made a mini Bill Cipher (not a very good one, but I tried), and I post my stuff online (for the 1 or 2 people that see it). This year, I didn't make a gingerbread house....I tried to make the Mystery Shack....it failed, but it tasted good ;P
But your stuff is waaaayyy better than mine! I don't have those comuter skills (ironic, considering the techonolgy conversation). I cosplay as Mabel, and am slowly building an arsenal of props (I got the Journal 3 pamphlet from the first DVD, the book (guide to), my Waddles (not official, but I'm getting him), the outfit (and am gonna knit/sew my own soon), Dorito earrings (real Dorito earrings...the reactions at cons are always hilarious), but I think imma go for print-outs (like the "do you like me quiz"). I was gonna buy some prints from etsy or redbubble...oh, look! your link is up ;) (Hey, why not support a friend!!)
Wow, I typed a lot. Sorry, I have too much energy right now...let's just ignore me hahaha Oh! You would appreciate this: I ski, and decided to listed to Straight Blachin' while racing down. Best moment ever!!
I made the container open (hinge) and have a little colored foam tube...and the dial spins....I think it's the prop I spent the most time on (besides my FMA automail)
(Wow, I'm typing a lot)
I've actually been looking for the Scary-oke posters, but I think yours is the first I've seen that actually glows under a black-light, and I found one in my room I got years ago (it was meant to be ;P)
I so wish we still had our guinea pigs! That'd be phenomenal, though! *suddenly gets quiet and pensive thinking of where to steal one from*
I gots the Stan/Bill combo cuz I want a Bill Cipher that doesn't look like a 5 year old got access to some clay (aka, the one I tried to make). I got some invisible ink that works under a black-light, so that's a thing, but not much.
Dude, I'd love to collab and if it won, maybe we could see if they'd sign two separate pages, and we each get to share? It probably wont happen, but it's a happy daydream
Dude, those are awesome! My mind works like a Rube Goldberg machine, which means I always do things in the most complicated way, especially with minimal materials (it might not always look good, but it functions)
I'm so jealous of your work. Like I said, way better than mine.
Idea for you: Dude, you could totally make GF CDs and use your graphic design skills to make a cover! I made a (not so decorated) CD by using one of those youtube-to-mp3 converters. I used themysteryofgf's youtube.
So long as it doesn't take away copyright stuffs, I think ppl would totally buy it! Do it, dude! (sorry, no sleep=energetic me)

I think selling things in that way would be intellectual property. It's a touchy subject. There's some kind of obscure line between prop replica and copyright. I won't cross that line... lol
Making replica BABBA CD covers to fit in standard CD cases would be pretty cool tho.
That's how I've been learning site features !!! lol
I figured out how to link to Wikipedia by using the method you just suggested.
I'm pretty good with images, formats and such. For example "WhoStoleMyPictures" browser addon, linked me to all the other sites where you've posted that picture of yourself, with just a left click. I didn't visit them, but a stalker would have.
Like any human I've got to learn new things step by step. Wiki formatting can be tricky, but the results speak for themselves.
Practicing is scary though. I'd not want to mess anything up. Maybe finding a smaller wiki to practice on would be a good idea.
Thanks for all your advice !!!
(I can remove that reverse lookup part if you like, just tryin ta help)
I've never heard of that browser addon...that's pretty cool!! I so don't care if you were to try it on my pic or something (the way I see it is if you're gonna pick an icon or profile pic, you're kinda opening yourself up sharing...stuff...wow, that sentence kinda tapered off horribly lol)
I know I messed up a few times (and still have trouble with the source editing on certain pages) but that's why I love the undo button! There's a way to undo any changes you've made and revert the page back to what it was before you changed it. I've certainly used that a few times.
Plus, feel free to message any of the frequent editors. Everyone on here is super friendly and helpful. :)
Hey Bea, I actually earned a new badge fixing a certain one of your edits. It was because it was a category I had never edited before. And here's a tip, you can probably find simple grammar errors to fix, no matter how small! I do that sometimes because it's a bit of good and I'm good with spelling and grammar. You might even improve the wording of something!
