The future city is a post-apocalyptic metropolis in the distant future. The city has a large use of time travel, as the Time Baby may be in control of the area.
History[]
At some point, the Time Baby overcame its opposition to wreck and take control of the city.[1]
Season 1[]
After Dipper and Mabel Pines cost Blendin Blandin his job in the Time Anomaly Removal Crew in "The Time Traveler's Pig," he is made to serve 10-squared life sentences in the city's Infinetentiary. He spends the duration of his time there training for battle and plotting his revenge on the twins.
Season 2[]
In "Blendin's Game," Blendin makes history as the first prisoner to escape the Infinitentiary and invokes Globnar against his past foes, hoping to win a time wish and prevent Dipper and Mabel from being born. The contest takes place in the Globnar stadium, against Dipper and Mabel.
Description, Society and Culture[]
The Future City is a dystopian metropolis set in a distant timeline, marked by towering sci-fi architecture and a grim, authoritarian atmosphere. It serves as a hub for time travel and cosmic control, with locations like the Infinetentiary—a prison for time offenders—and the Globnar Stadium, where warriors battle for a coveted "time wish." The city is ruled by the formidable Time Baby, a tyrannical entity who enforces strict temporal laws through agents like Lolph and Dundgren. Citizens live under heavy surveillance and punishment, with even minor infractions resulting in absurdly long sentences, reflecting a society obsessed with control and paradox prevention.
Culturally, the Future City thrives on ritualized conflict and spectacle. Globnar, a gladiator-style tournament, is both entertainment and a mechanism for granting temporal power, showcasing the city's blend of violence and ceremony. The enforcement of time ethics dominates daily life, and resistance to Time Baby's rule simmers beneath the surface. Despite its technological advancements, the city's culture is steeped in fear, control, and a surreal sense of cosmic absurdity – perfectly in line with the quirky, dark humor of Gravity Falls.
