"Disco Girl"[1] is a Top 40 hit song by Icelandic pop group BABBA that both Dipper and the Multi-Bear are fans of.[2]
History[]
In "Dipper vs. Manliness," Stan catches Dipper singing the song to his reflection in the bathroom in a flashback to earlier in the summer. Later, the Multi-Bear requests that he dies listening to the song, and they sang the chorus together. After revealing that his rivalry with the Manotaurs is due to his liking towards the song, Dipper is persuaded to change his mind about "becoming a man", accepting his own form of masculinity.
BABBA among the garbage.
Later, in "Land Before Swine," the tape of the song is seen among the trash of a knocked over garbage can.
In "The Last Mabelcorn," the song is one of Dipper's memories projected on Project Mentem.
In the missing Journal #3 pages from The Book of Bill, it's shown that Ford Pines was a fan of the song as well, singing it with Bill Cipher.

Gravity Falls - Disco Girl - Full Length - Official
In 2021, as part of the release of the Gravity Falls Vinyl Soundtrack, a full version of Disco Girl was released online as part of promotional material for it on a website called dipperssecretshame.[3] The website was taken down shortly after, as it was found earlier than planned. However, reuploads of the song have since been made. On June 15, 2022, as part of the series' 10th anniversary, Alex Hirsch uploaded officially the song on Twitter.[4]

- The band and song are a spoof of the Swedish pop group, ABBA and their song "Dancing Queen."
- In 2021, as part of the promotional material for the Gravity Falls Vinyl soundtrack, iam8bit released the full version of Disco Girl on a now defunct password protected website (Password: MasonPines).[3]
- The song was officially released by Alex Hirsch on June 15, 2022 as part of his 10 years of Gravity Falls celebration.[5] As of June 2022, the original website remains down.
- Disco Girl was originally supposed to be included in the Vinyl soundtrack on the B-side of record 1. However it was not part of the final pressing and therefore not included in the Vinyl release due to a request from a license holder over a copyright issue. [6]
- This Is Not A Website Dot Com gives an audio extension of the flashback from "Dipper vs. Manliness", in which he sings another, shorter made-up song before deciding to listen and sing along to "Disco Girl", until Stan comes in as Dipper defends himself by saying Stan has heard a ghost, as Stan leaves, confused by what he heard and witnessed. As Dipper finishes the song, he hides the tape and says to himself that Mabel must never know about this.
