1. Stanley Pines (Stanford's alleged brother)
2. Bill Cipher
3. Quentin Trembly
4. Future Dipper (I put no stock in this theory, but were including ALL possibilties)
5. For all we know the author left Gravity Falls and lost it.

Guys the author would have to have had 6 fingures at one point, does enyone have a scar in the serise.
No I don't think so, but get his guys. I got the Gravity Falls season 1 movies for christmas and this is one of the lines in the description: "Of course, Dipper and Mabel's enigmatic "Grunkle" Stan just might be the key to solving the riddles of Gravity Falls. He obviously knows more than he's willing to tell - or does he...?" This proves Stan is somehow involved
Good work.
thanks :)
We all know Stan knows more than he's saying, he won't tell Dipper beings he doesn't want him to get hurt (some theorize Stans ultimate concern for Dipper stems from the loss of his brother to the supernatural in Gravity Falls) But back to my thesis point it's no secret Stan knows more than he lets on.
Yeah, Stan is involved somehow. He discovered the secret lab or already knew about it, and knew that there were 3 journals and that he needed all of them to activate the Universe Portal.
I'm sticking with my Stanford, McGucket and Stanley theory, but we've definitely covered some ground in this thread.
I am just so proud of us all!!! :D
So am I.
I'm pretty much sold on Stan either being the author, or co-author, though I'd settle for super-close-super-ultra-buddy of the author...I don't know if this piece of evidence has been posted on this tread, but:
The four symbols he used to enter his secret lab (not the ones on the vending machine) is four alchemy symbols that appear together (in the same order) on various pages in the journal. (This was noted on the journal page, but I only just noticed the frequency...as in, there's more than just one page where this shows up!!!)

If so, not the author, as Stan didn't know about the invisible ink. It may be worht theorizing about multiple authors, one per book, but I doubt it.
Most likely, he was a friend (or a brother) to the author.
